The exhibition takes the architecture of NOCA as its starting point, particularly its glass surfaces, which at times create conditions of a greenhouse: a space of transparency, exposure, cultivation, and controlled climate.

At its core lies the notion and practice of harvesting from nature. Harvesting can be understood in two interconnected ways: as the physical act of taking or extracting something from the natural environment, and as a metaphor for the ways in which artists collect, appropriate, translate, and transform landscapes into material, images, knowledge, or aesthetic experiences. What does it mean to take something from a landscape, and what remains once it has been harvested?

These questions open up reflections on the fragility of landscapes and the ways in which they hold memory. Ecological awareness runs through many of the presented artworks, which shift our perspectives between nature and politics while inviting us to reconsider how landscapes are perceived, inhabited, remembered, and continuously transformed.

The act of harvesting also brings into focus the relationship between landscape and tourism. Tourism transforms places into destinations, experiences, images, and commodities, often shaping expectations of how a place should look and feel. Oradea, with its architectural heritage, surrounding natural landscapes, and growing appeal as a tourist destination, offers a particularly relevant context in which to consider these processes.

A greenhouse with a view A greenhouse with a view approaches the landscape not simply as a natural environment, but as a site of ongoing negotiation, shaped by economic interests, cultural histories, and socio-political dynamics. It encourages practices of care and site-sensitive knowledge, nurturing a deeper attentiveness to the ecological relationships that shape these environments.
