Crețești - Place for Action, Solo Exhibition at Anca Poterașu Gallery, Bucharest, 15.05- 01.07.25

The Romanian Association of Contemporary Art (ARAC) and Anca Poterașu Gallery, in partnership with the French Institute Bucharest and the Goethe-Institut, present from May 15, 2025 - July 1, 2025, in the framework of the project “Artistic Residency Săcel - 2nd Edition”, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, the solo exhibition “Loc de acțiune - Crețești” by the Romanian artist Delia Popa, curated by the French curator Julie CRENN.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, 19:00, at Galeria Anca Poterașu, 26 Popa Soare Street, Bucharest and marks the beginning of the collaboration between Galeria Anca Poterașu and Delia POPA.

The exhibition project takes as its starting point the village of Crețești, Vidra commune, near the capital, and proposes a meeting place between local heritage, global influences and personal history, bringing to the forefront the way in which the rural world is often marginalized in contemporary culture.

"Delia POPA reinterprets landscapes from her family's village, Crești, through a series of large-scale works of painting, sculpture and ceramics. Through her artistic approach, Crețești becomes a setting for social and cultural reflection, a territory that claims its visibility and relevance. In this way, art becomes the means by which the countryside is not only represented, but revalorized." (Julie Crenn)

Julie CRENN is an art historian, critic (AICA member) and independent curator. Since 2018 she collaborates with Transpalette - Center for Contemporary Art in Bourges. She obtained a master's degree in art history at the University of Rennes 2, with a paper on Frida Kahlo, and a PhD in arts (history and theory) at the University Michel de Montaigne, Bordeaux III, focusing on contemporary textile practices (1970-present). Her current research focuses on the body, memory and artistic activism from an intersectional perspective.

Anca Poterașu Gallery is a unique contemporary art space, opened in 2011, dedicated to presenting Romanian artists alongside international talents. The gallery's curatorial approach encourages collaboration with artists and curators from all over the world, evidenced by initiatives such as the international exhibition residencies program.
